The essence of my work in navigating your way through the various decisions required in your life’s transitions, is ensuring that you have a clear idea of who you are: your strengths, your abilities, your talents and gifts; where you shine, and areas of challenge too.
It makes sense that with this increased clarity you would have an idea of the things that would interest you, would inspire you and in turn, the work that you might like to do. Of course, with this self- knowledge you would also have a sharper idea of work which you have no desire to do!
In addition, taking a wide-eyed and realistic appraisal of your environment is vital in order to fashion a well-matched alignment between who you are, of how you want to be in the world, and the work that you might do.
This includes a necessary summing up of likely possibilities, an awareness of challenges, and yes, even sometimes weighing up, holding on to your dream against the realities of the current environment. It’s not to say that your dreams won’t necessarily materialize, but just perhaps not in the linear trajectory that you might have anticipated! Don’t give up on them!
My sense is that regardless of how many other people there are doing the same work that you do, there is a unique quality about you – and it’s what you bring to that space that is important. It’s about nurturing that and being the best version of you that you can be.
“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium. It will be lost. The world will not have it…
- Martha Graham
My work focusses on you, the individual. I work together with you towards your goals, your need for new ways of managing and approaching your life, your decisions about a new role, a different career or helping you transition into a new stage in your life.
It is also most important to me that all information (including assessment material, if used) is integrated to allow for a full awareness and understanding, that can ultimately lead to effective and comprehensive decision making as well as that anticipated forward movement.
I use a variety of techniques or modalities, especially coaching, counselling, guiding and facilitating. It is useful to understand what these are and I have detailed more information on the services tag.
I am guided by my professional experience as a psychologist, coach, guide, facilitator and counsellor together with life’s lessons as a wife, mother, creator, challenger, friend and thinker with a deep love for my South African roots.
While I act as conduit for your learning, shifts and empowerment, I create the milieu in which such transformation can happen.
This is the place that I hold, but that you fill.
